The WADO INTERNATIONAL
KARATE-DO FEDERATION was born in London
in 1990's to decision of M° T.SUZUKI.
Sensei pronounced this purpose few time before, with an open letter sent to
his most faithful pupils. In this letter Sensei told us about his
dissension and his worry about the increasing of karate autonomy groups led
by instructor with a sketchily knowledge of the Wado's principles and often
they had scanty and wrong knowledge of the techniques. According to Sensei
think, this situation was happened due to in and bad behaviour of them. And
this was the opposite spirit of Sensei's Ohtsuka Wado school in which
Suzuki Sensei promised faithfulness to OHTSUKA Sensei. Suzuki
Sensei thought his mission was to expand the Wado Ryu principles in
the best, correct and faithful mode possible.
After this letter an important meeting was held in London,
with his most faithful pupils, coming from every part of the Europe. At the end of the meeting the WADO
INTERNATIONAL KARATE-DO FEDERATION was born.
SUZUKI Sensei appointed a liable for each nation with the task of preserve
and expand in the own country the OHTSUKA principles.
It's important to remember that the arise of
W.I.K.F. had the unconditional recognition of all Japan and
wordwide karate federations.
The cerimonial act was given to TOKYO
in 1990 with the most important people of Budo.
For copyright reasons old logo was changed. A new one, with a red circle,
sign of arising sun, replaced the punch.
Today W.I.K.F. is
in six continents: North&South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania and has 51 country members.
W.I.K.F. organizes the European Championship every year and the World
Championship every four years. SUZUKI Sensei is continuing to teach Wado
Ryu all over the world.
